That actually sounds a lot like some of the "colic" websites I've read (although they seem to say this isn't colic). The "ends around 3-4 months" gets me. It actually started around three months. Weird, huh? We just assume it's something that'll pass when she matures out of it. Until then... lots and lots of coddling :)

So, even if everyone isn't feeling well, we should get together. Safety in numbers!!!! It's tough to be a mom. It's also tough to be a primarily stay at home mom without the help of church nurseries, moms or mother-in-laws who can help out from time to time and special outings like Target or the Mall. Everything here takes more effort than at home. We have to clean more often and the cleaning isn't nearly as easy as it is at home. Do what you can as you can, then come see us. We've had our own struggles, but we look to the Lord who sees and knows all things. It's great to say your deeper thoughts out loud. The enemy just lost a foot hold in your mind. To think otherwise would be foolish. We are here. Let us help!! You would be helping us as well.

I'm glad you posted about this. PPD is a totally taboo subject. People like to pretend their lives are perfect. The only thing that accomplishes is making people feel like crap because life isn't perfect. I too suffered with PPD. Nobody understood. Everybody minimized it. Thanks for always putting real life out there for people. I wish more people felt comfortable doing so without being judged. Let me know if you need to chat.

I know exactly how you feel. I struggled with similar worries and anxieties after Audrey. I believe mine started when some friends of mine lost their baby to HELP Syndrome and the fear and overehelming guilt consummed me over a month before she was born. The truth is, you are doing everything right and this isn't something you have any control over. It boils down to brain chemistry and the dirty tricks our body plays on us...my partner was also very supportive, but eventually I had to seek counseling as well as medications to help me cope. I am not ashamed of this because it has allowed me to enjoy my baby.

First off: Your blogs are very encouraging about topics that as you said aren't typically discussed.
I wouldn't worry too much about how "other women" cope. As you said, it isn't discussed. That "genuine" smile and happy attitude so many strangers see at the supermarket or the laundry or the workplace may or may not be a facade. And so many women may be suffering in private, with or without a supportive partner. So rest assured you are not alone and you are not "bad" for behaving this way.
Also, I would try a change in routine. Try meditating or yoga. If you regularly drink something in the morning, like coffee, switch to tea. If it's water, switch to juice, or something. Maybe just a few simple routine changes would alleviate some stress.

Kayti....this is awesome! I thought I was doing pretty well, but I learned a lot from this post. Loved the makeup site....that is one area where I really need to make some changes. I've been afraid of mineral makeup because I'd heard the small particles of all those powders could lodge in your lungs. Love that this says "there are no nano particles". Love your commitment to peace,love and our earth. You and Austin truly are my heroes.

So true! I spent my entire pregnancy freaking out that my water would break in public or on my bed, couch or in my car. I sat on a waterproof mat all the time just to make me feel better. Of course my water didn't break until my OB did it. (A sore topic...grrr!) On another random note-Have you ever thought about how silly "water breaking" sounds? It kinda makes me giggle.

I'm sure this is only temporary, but I have the opposite problem, which I also find to be un-fun, especially since I'm now fully into my second trimester. My massage therapist today, looking puzzled from me to the paper and back (after having talked to me a few times on the phone already about the details), was finally like "Wait so you're... this is the... it's a prenatal massage?" Me: ...yes. "I'm sorry, you're just so *tiny*!" I've gained twelve pounds, and I can't wear any of my old pants anymore, so I'd like to think I look nurturingly plump and motherlike, but I guess not. Hmph.

I really wanted Kaylee Dee to be born on Father's Day, and kept looking for the "signs of labor". She was born a week later... she didn't drop until I started pushing, they had to break my water, and I went from no dilation to 5 cm all in a couple of hours. My only indication was labor pains that started coming close together. All I kept thinking for the last couple weeks was "Please don't let my water break in my classroom in front of my students." LOL
